A Patient's Success Story:
Joubin's Journey Back
He was staying active and fit until a new workout routine brought on an unexpected injury. Having been forced off his game for months, he finally tried something new to get back on track. Now, it’s game on.
No one would ever question how many miles Joubin Pakpour has logged on his feet. As a civil engineer, he’s constantly on the move directing major infrastructure projects. As a dedicated father, he’s quite happy keeping up with his kids and their youthful energy. As an athlete, he thrives on feeding his love for sports, whether he’s hooping it up or hitting the slopes.
I started to feel pain and immediately knew it was Plantar Fasciitis.
When the Coronavirus pandemic hit, things fell out of step for Joubin like it did for all of us—he quickly had to learn how to pivot. Not knowing how long his gym would remain closed or when he could safely play in a pick-up game again, he turned to online bootcamp workouts as a way to stay fit. He recalls, “About a month later, I started to feel pain and immediately knew it was Plantar Fasciitis.” He was no stranger to the condition because he suffered from it before. Recovering from it would take time and patience.
Joubin did what many of us would do at first—try to treat it himself with some good stretching exercises. Time would tell but as the months passed by, his inflamed plantar fascia (a band of tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes) became an annoyance with every step. It just wasn’t getting better as fast as he had hoped.
When Dr. Huey heard Joubin’s story, he asked him to think about MLS® Laser Therapy as a way to get back in step sooner. “I’ve visited podiatrists all my life. He’s a good doctor,” Joubin says. “I like Dr. Huey because he’s personable. I could tell he was sincerely interested in hearing about my problem. I appreciated that he wasn’t trying to sell me on laser therapy as a magic bullet but offered it as another tool I can use to help speed up my recovery.” After considering what Dr. Huey had to say about it and reading up on it a bit more, he decided to give it a try.
So what is MLS® Laser Therapy? It’s the most advanced medical laser available to stimulate the body’s own healing process and speed up recovery. The FDA-cleared, patented technology has been clinically proven to be 85-90% effective for people with musculoskeletal pain and inflammation or arthritis. Most people experience positive results in one to three visits and continue to see improvement throughout their course of therapy.1 The treatment is safe, non-invasive, painless and comfortable.

Dr. Huey describes how it works, “In a nutshell, there are two lasers that produce concentrated energy. One laser works to ease the pain while the other works to reduce the inflammation and swelling. This energy can penetrate deep enough to stimulate activity in your damaged cells. This activity speeds up your body’s own healing process and once these cells recover, the process is complete.”
I like MLS®Laser Therapy because my patients like it.
He happily adds, “I like MLS®Laser Therapy because my patients like it. They like how safe and painless it is and they look forward to their sessions. I get excited when they first start noticing positive results. This form of therapy is perfect for people like Joubin who live an active lifestyle and don’t want to be held back. It’s such a great feeling to know that I’m helping them get back on track.”
For Joubin’s Plantar Fasciitis situation, Dr. Huey recommended MLS® Laser Therapy once a week for six weeks and a care plan that included stretching, not going barefoot, and wearing a night splint. He also recommended support slider-type sandals to wear around the house and made him a new pair of custom orthotics to wear when he’s out and about.
I started noticing an improvement midway through my course of therapy.
No longer sidelined by Plantar Fasciitis, Joubin happily recalls, “I started noticing an improvement midway through my course of therapy.” By the end of his treatment, his problem was resolved. “I recommend it because it accelerates the healing process and the price is so reasonable, there’s very little downside. I still had to do my part to get better but compared to the costs versus benefits or risks of getting cortisone shots or surgery, the laser therapy is worth it.”
We are thankful to this patient for sharing his story publicly. He was not paid nor provided with products or services in exchange for his testimonial. Exact results and experience are unique to each patient.
